Jewelry Stringing Winter 2014

The Winter issue of Jewelry Stringing magazine is out now. I get so excited about this beading magazine. It's my favorite. I'm happy to have a few designs in this latest issue. I absolutely love the fabulous necklace on the cover. Oh, that is pretty and so on trend! I know I'd love to make that and wear it. Below, is my necklace design called, Glistening Garland. It appears in the same "Sparkle, Dazzle and Shine section as the cover piece. I love the clear drop beads I used in the design.

I remember a glorious happy day in May when I created this necklace for submission to the issue. It was a few days after Mother's Day. I captured the moment in this photo below:

Nothing could have been better than the day this photo was taken! I spent the whole day in my studio beading and sipping tea from my new Mother's Day mug. Oh, how happy I was. It was blissful. What a wonderful memory.

I hope I have another day like that again real soon. I hope you enjoy some creating time yourself over the Winter holidays. If you are looking for fashionable project ideas this season, be sure to pick up a copy of Jewelry Stringing or download the digital version. I always do.

Happy Beading!

  1. I had gotten this issue but hadn't looked at it yet when I took it on a visit to my mom. I thought she'd enjoy looking at it. She was going through it and showing me things she liked when she showed me your necklace. I said it looked like an Erin Siegel piece, and sure enough it was when I checked the name. I think that is a real accomplishment - to have a recognizable style with pieces that are still fresh and new each time. Great necklace!

    1. Thank you so much, Ann! I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. Oh, that is such a pleasure to hear you did recognize the design as one of mine. Makes me feel really good. I do try to adhere to a certain style/aesthetic for the most part. Sometimes I fear I might box myself in too much by doing that, so I do let myself go in other directions from time to time and try new things as well. That seems to keep things inspiring and exciting for me.

    1. Shel, thanks so much! I really like the direction of the magazine these days. I've always liked Stringing, but I like it even more with the focus on current trends in jewelry. I think your pieces would be a great fit for this magazine. I hope you'll try submitting sometime!

    1. Thank you, Cynthia! I do like how this necklace turned out. You are so right, those clear beads pick up the light nicely! This piece is really very simple, but the multiple strands and layers of the beads have a great affect! I use that strategy quite a bit in my work. Creating interest, depth and fullness with multiple strands. That's my go-to technique!
